Class Policies

To me the most important aspect of classroom management is respect for each other. Students are expected to respect the right of other students to ask questions as well as answer questions in class. Students will also be asked to help fellow students with work in the classroom setting.

Students are free to use the 5 minute break in any way they see fit such as using the restroom. Once the bell rings for the start of class, the students are expected to be ready to start.

Students are not allowed to go to the restroom once the bell rings unless it is an emergency. Students are allowed to have water provided the water bottle remains on the floor.

Students are not allowed to just shout out in class or answer a question without raising their hand first  or being called on by the teacher. Students are allowed to use dictionaries and other supplies in the classroom but are not allowed to touch or play with any technology equipment in the classroom including the TV.

Grading policies:Tests will count 70% of the student’s quarter grade. Note quizzes and map quizzes will count as 20% of the average and the other 10% of the quarter grade will come from assigned homework and homework quizzes. Dates for each unit will be assigned at the beginning of that unit. At least once a quarter, students will be assigned a project. I accept no late projects.

Makeup work:It is the student’s responsibility to make up any missed notes or homework. Missed quizzes and tests will be made up at the discretion of the teacher.

Extra help:I am available any morning before the start of homeroom, any day at lunch, and after school until 3:00. I will stay later than 3:00 provided the student makes a request ahead of time as I coach year round.
